Switch on what you need
The parts your trade needs, and none of the rest.
A garage turns on job cards. An electronics shop cares about serial numbers, a furniture shop about lay-by, and most shops about none of them. Everything below is off on a fresh install and stays off until you switch it on, and switching one on is a tick in Settings rather than a reinstall or a new licence.
Job cards for garages and workshops
Open a card when the vehicle comes in: the fault, the diagnosis, parts off stock, labour by the job or by the hour. A finished card becomes an invoice in one step.
Serial numbers & warranty
Type a serial against each unit as it goes out, then answer "did we sell this, and is it still covered?" from the serial, the customer or the receipt. Warranty runs per item, in months.
Deposits & lay-by
Tick Lay-by on the invoice and the goods are set aside, with whatever is paid there and then as the deposit. The Lay-by screen flags what's overdue and releases nothing until the balance is zero.
Per item, not per shop
Stock that doesn't behave like a plain box on a shelf.
These are ticked on the items that need them and ignored by the ones that don't. A catalogue where none are ticked shows no extra column, no extra warning and no changed screen.
Expiry dates & batch numbers
Mark an item as expiring and it carries a date and the pack's lot number. The till warns when it reaches a sale, and Expiring Stock lists what's gone off and what's close, soonest first.
Variants โ one line, many shades
An item carries a group ("Matte Lipstick 3g") and a shade ("Ruby Woo"), and both are searched โ so a forty-shade line stops being forty near-identical rows at the till.
Sell part of a pack
Stock cable in 10m rolls and sell it by the metre, half-metre included. The metre price is set by hand rather than divided out of the roll price, because cutting a roll costs you the offcut.
A closer look without leaving the register
Rest the mouse on an item in the register and its code, price, stock and pack size appear without leaving the sale. Buying price and margin show only to staff allowed to see profit.
Who signed for the goods
A trade counter hands goods to whoever the customer sent. There's a Signed by box beside Reference on invoices and at the till, so that name stops fighting the customer's own PO number for one line.
Staff commission
Set what each seller earns, watch it build as they sell, and pay it out from the same screen.
